RECENT FASHION SHOW COMEBACK: LANVIN

RECENT FASHION SHOW COMEBACK: LANVIN

Lanvin alert! Back on the radar. The 3rd season of somehwat recently appointed Peter Copping was a triumph. Not only harkening back to the looks of Jeanne Lanvin who founded the house in 1889, but also to the tenure of Elber Albaz who created masterful collections from 2001-2015. This fall/winter 2026/2027 collection shown in Paris on march 6, 2026 was my favorite of the lot.

Chic wearable silhouettes and combinations of color and texture that were ultra chic. Yeah, I liked Chanel, Alaia, and Tom Ford too, but this was special. The wider shoulders and dropped waist that everyone has been doing were realized in a more elegant way, a clear view into Jeanne Lanvins' past "Robe de Style" silhouettes and incredibly intricate embroidery and embellishments. While many attributed the hats to 1960's Balenciaga, they are actually inspired by 1900's Turn of the Century Coal Miners hats, Copping here was not only referencing the Lanvin archive, but also many aspects of life at that time. Interesting non?
